bible teaching

The Bible is sixty-six books rolled into one. There is a central theme running through the Bible from beginning to end. Once you know this theme, you will have the key to unlock its mysteries and understand its message. The theme is God manifestation. Put simply, it means God revealing himself to mankind. Here is how the Apostle Paul expresses it:

“God, having in the past spoken to the fathers through the prophets at many times and in various ways, in these last days has spoken to us by a Son, whom He appointed heir of all things through whom He also made the ages” (Hebrews 1v1,2)

So, in the past, God revealed himself to the ancestors by speaking through his prophets; in the last days he spoke to us (i.e. revealed himself) by a son – which of course is Jesus Christ. It fits the theme.

But how do you decide if you have the right interpretation of a Bible text?

bible truth

There’s a simple way to find out if you have a correct understanding of a passage in the Bible: you read the verses in their context, then you check them against the rest of scripture. If your interpretation aligns with what you find in the rest of scripture, it is very likely correct. If it does not, it’s probably incorrect. The Bible, and its message, is consistent.

Below you will find resources to help you in your search for Bible truth.

why the bible?

Claims that the Bible is the revealed word of the one true God are sometimes met by counter-claims that in fact it is simply one of a number of sacred texts and is neither more nor less authoritative than the others.

But there are crucial features which set the Bible apart from all other sacred texts. These are shown in the chart below.

the truth about god

There is nowhere else we can learn about the God of Christianity except from the Bible. So if we are to explore the nature and character of God, we must use the Bible as our reference.

The Bible says that essentially there is only one eternal, immortal God, Jesus Christ is His only begotten Son and the Holy Spirit is His Power.

the plight of mankind

We live in a universe in which the consequences of what we do are inescapable, and therefore our responsibility for what we do is equally inescapable. Without this burden of ‘natural law’ man could do as he liked with impunity, and there would be no responsibility. God made the universe this way because He is a moral God who makes men responsible beings with freewill to choose how they will act.

Nevertheless it is also true that bad things happen to good people. This seems so unjust. If God is a god of love, why does he let this happen?

the real jesus

The view that “Jesus is God” is held by many sincerely religious people. Anyone who does not unhesitatingly accept this formula is regarded as a “heretic” and as “unChristian”. Yet, ironically, the Doctrine of the Trinity is not found in the Bible. So, what does the Bible say?

resurrection - fact or fiction?
